A lot of folks have been asking:
"What's happening to my oak trees?"

Twig Gall infestation on Oak trees was alarmingly abundant in 2021. Created by feeding wasp larvae, the galls can cause stress in trees by defoliating the tree crown and eventual branch

die-back. Galls on healthy trees is mostly just aesthetically unpleasing to look at. On older mature trees, that may have pre-existing health issues, a heavy gall infestation may be fatal.

Most experts agree that there is no proven treatment to control the wasps or the galls. Keeping the trees watered during times of drought and checking soil Ph for possible supplemental nutrient addition through deep-root fertilizing can be beneficial.
